Introducing… Flaxen Press!

While I was pursuing my undergrad, I was lucky to add another passion to the mix — paper making. I fell in love with this medium immediately. On my off days between working at my day job and doing photography, you can find me in a vat of pulp, splashing away. During my thesis year at university, I chose to work with paper and paper pulp as my medium, with the sole purpose of wanting to expand my skills and abilities with this versatile substance. Through that entire year, I became more and more intrigued and captured by this craft. I decided to make it a part of my life, permanently.

I am so excited to offer printing services on my handmade, artisanal paper — from printing a new favorite family photo to the invitations for your upcoming wedding. Along with digital printing, I also offer custom watercolor pet portraits — these hand painted pet portraits can make for a great personalized gift for yourself or a loved one. In addition, I offer custom ordering of paper for any use you see fit.

Maker’s Favorites

Each sheet of my house blend paper is unique and textured. Small bumps and grooves give any digital print a vintage flair. Inquire about custom colors below.

Recycled

Junk mail, paper scraps and maybe some photos of an old ex have a new purpose now. This variety of paper varies per batch, as what I use changes each time. My recycled paper is perfect for tinting as well - inquire about custom colors in the form below!

Confetti Paper (House Blend as base)

One of my favorite ways to add a little more excitement to my paper. Confetti paper can be made with be either cut up yarn or thread - all depends on the mood you’re going for!

Grass & Rhubarb Leaves

Who would have thought that grass clippings and rhubarb leaves could be so pretty together. This paper has been cleaned, cut, cooked and beaten to create some strong, beautiful textured sheets. This paper is great for crafting.

Cotton with rhubarb leaves

This one came about as a result of having a little bit of two kinds of paper pulps, which created a unique style that is a winner in my household! It is a creamy earthy green. My current inventory is unsized, so ink and wet mediums may bleed but pencil works just fine.

Small Journals (roughly 3.5 x 5.5”) start at : $13

Large Journals (roughly 5.5 x 9”) start at : $16

*You may add additional pages for the price of $1 per sheet and customize the paper color for an additional cost

8 x 10” : $35

A custom paper order typically takes 3-4 weeks to produce.
